Meeting called to order @ 8:15am, Reading Area
1. October Minutes Review & Acceptance
a. Motion to accept:
v 1st= Lora; 2nd= Tessa
2. Thanks from the PTO to:
a. Christie Patterson for organizing the Pumpkin Walk as well as all others listed in the newsletter
b. Lisa Risch for organizing the Sock Rock with Carol Johnson’s assistance
c. Lisa Zyriek and Barbara Crawford for investigating and following up on the installation of the intermediate playground bench.
3. Treasurer’s Report – Lora Wait:
a. Reviewed: Ordinary Income & Expenses
b. $45k in checking; $18k in savings; $58k in available funds including allocations
4. Fall Fundraiser:
a. Determine a specific ‘thing’ that the fundraiser should be for next year
b. Originally started to fund the technology teacher
c. Lower amount raised this year could be down due to high amount of existing available funds
d. Suggestions:
v Technology/Science Lab – Lisa Ross
Ø Lisa Gibson will review and discuss with appropriate committee
Ø Issues/concerns: space, cabinets to store equipment/supplies, outdoor science lab/stand alone
5. Waggoner Night Out (WNO) Update - Ingrid:
a. Almost $2k raised so far! Goal is $1500 for the year.
b. $2,372 raised between WNO and What’s for Dinner!
c. The next ‘What’s for Dinner’ event at Boston Market on December 16 to help with a busy holiday season
d. Next WNO event is at Rubio’s, Ray and Rural, on January 12
6. Expenditure Requests – Lesley:
a. Umbrellas (& wall hooks) for the duty staff during rainy or blistering days:
v Motion: To purchase increase the budget to $250 for umbrellas & corresponding wall hooks for the duty staff
¨ 1st: Melissa; 2nd: Tessa; None opposed
b. Possible Ideas for other expenditures:
v Courtyard benches: Jill C. suggested that the picnic tables between the 3rd and 4th grades courtyard area be replaced as they are chipped and rusted. Current tables pose a safety hazard.
Ø Lisa Gibson will investigate replacement with the School Operations committee at the end of November
v School Garden: Each grade could have a section in the courtyard; start at 3rd grade
Ø Lisa Gibson will investigate replacement with the appropriate committee
7. Turkey Trot – Jim K:
a. Takes place the Tuesday before Thanksgiving; full BBQ
b. Requested additional funds in order to cover all expenses including cleaning the Turkey costume/suit
Ø MOTION: Courtney motioned to increase the Turkey Trot budget to $250
¨ 1st= Gail; 2nd= Autumn; none opposed
c. Volunteers needed; see volunteer signup sheet coming home in backpacks
8. Krispy Kreme Donuts – Autumn suggested a possible fundraiser (for the Student Council? Or for party planners during the Holiday parties?)
9. Cost is $3/doz; sell for $6; sold in stores for $7.99
10. UPS Discounts given to Waggoner families – Elliot & McClintock and Elliot & Kyrene
11. No PTO meeting December
